Cortex is an external brain: one place where everything you capture — notes, documents, voice memos, prompts, quotes, links — becomes searchable memory. Its superpower is MCP: every AI you use (Claude, ChatGPT, Cursor, Gemini, Windsurf, VS Code — any MCP client) can search that memory and save into it, so your context stops living in scattered chats.

One unit of memory. A neuron can be a note, an uploaded document, a reusable prompt, a quote, or an embedded link. Neurons carry tags, an optional project, a visibility level (private, team, or public link), and they are all semantically searchable.

The Connect AI page walks you through every client: OAuth-capable ones (Claude Desktop, ChatGPT) just take the MCP URL — you sign in with your Cortex account and click Allow, no keys. Header-config clients (Claude Code, Cursor, Gemini CLI, Windsurf, VS Code) get a ready-made config snippet with a revocable API key. Either way, the History page logs every action any AI takes in your brain.

The chip at the bottom of the sidebar that decides where new captures land: your personal brain, a team, or a project. Pin one and it becomes a hard filter — lists, search, and your connected AIs all narrow to that scope's content, with a small "N hidden" count so nothing feels lost. You can still open anything directly by link or ID, and unpinning (back to Personal) always shows everything again.

No. Creating a team requires the Team plan (€49/mo with 5 seats included, extra seats €7/mo), but joining and working inside someone else’s team is free on any plan — team content never counts against a member’s personal limits.

Your paid plan stays active until the end of the period you already paid for — then you move to the lower plan or Free. Nothing is deleted, ever: if you hold more neurons than Free allows, they all stay readable, searchable, and editable; only creating new ones pauses until you upgrade again.

Upgrades are prorated. You switch immediately and pay only the price difference for the remaining days of your current cycle — the renewal date does not move. Downgrades cost nothing today and take effect at the period end.

Yes — every charge produces an invoice, emailed automatically and already marked as paid. Add your company details and VAT number under Settings → Billing → Invoice details to have them appear on future invoices.

The monthly budget that powers Cortex’s own AI work on your content: embeddings for search, vision analysis on images, audio transcription. It resets every month per your plan. You can also bring your own OpenRouter API key so heavy processing bills your key instead.

Always. Git sync (Pro and Team) mirrors your entire brain to your own GitHub repository as Markdown with attachments, committing on every change — a standing export you own even if you leave. Public sharing and team access are always explicit choices.

No. Your content is processed only to serve you — indexing, search, analysis you asked for. AI assistants only see what the connection’s scope and your team memberships allow, and the History page shows every access.

Card payments through Revolut’s payment platform — we never see or store card details. Subscriptions are monthly in euros, VAT included where applicable.

Yes — Cortex is a tool hub. Connect an external MCP server or an HTTP API (with an OpenAPI spec for per-operation tools) once on the Connect AI page, and every AI client connected to Cortex gains those tools automatically. Credentials stay encrypted on the server; you can share a connector with your team, and every proxied call shows up in History.
